Online and Telephone Counselling in Dorset and across UK
You can mix and match online counselling, telephone counselling, and in-person sessions depending on your situation and how you feel week to week. All therapy sessions can be adjusted to suit you, and creative approaches are always welcome.
Online counselling sessions are available across Dorset and the UK.
Remote counselling sessions on Zoom, WhatsApp and FaceTime are the most popular and offer a more connected experience. Telephone sessions are available if preferred
For online therapy sessions, you will need a smartphone or computer with a webcam and microphone, which are relatively inexpensive to buy or easy to install on your current device if you don’t already have them. Occasionally, internet speed can be challenging, but we can discuss a backup plan if that happens. I will send the Zoom link, which will guide you through downloading Zoom if you haven’t used it before. If you’re not used to video calling or feel unsure, I can talk you through the process. Alternatively, we can use FaceTime or WhatsApp video if you prefer, as long as you feel the space is private and secure.

Privacy and Security Online
For the best security, use a private internet connection, keep your device updated, and choose a quiet, private space for your session.
During Online Sessions
- Find a private space where you won’t be interrupted, and use headphones if possible.
- If strong emotions come up during the session, you don’t need to cancel — we can pause, slow things down, or take a short break together.
- Have a plan for interruptions, such as someone walking into the room, so you feel in control.
- If you have trouble connecting, you can text or message me, and I’ll guide you.
If the session goes offline unexpectedly:
- I will reach out to you via message and would be grateful for a response.
- If I have reason to believe that you or someone near you is at risk of harm, I may contact local services and provide your contact information.
- All of this will be discussed and agreed in advance, so there are no surprises.
Safety and Emergencies
-
Emergencies:
- Online and telephone sessions are not suitable for an immediate crisis.
- If you feel unsafe or at risk, call local emergency services or a trusted support line first.
In rare cases where there are serious concerns about immediate safety, I may need to contact appropriate emergency services.
If you’re unsure where to start, you’re welcome to get in touch; we can figure it out together.
