The Inspiration Behind Pensieve

Pensieve was created from a deep appreciation for thoughtful reflection and the power of understanding our inner world. The name blends pensive (thoughtful and reflective) with sieve (a tool for filtering). It symbolises the process of examining your thoughts and experiences, keeping what’s useful, and letting go of what no longer supports you.

In a well-known fictional context, a Pensieve is a magical object used to store memories, allowing them to be examined more clearly. I’ve always loved this idea: stepping outside the immediate experience to gain insight, perspective, and clarity.

Pensieve is intended to be that kind of space, somewhere you can pause, reflect, and discover your own answers. A place that values authenticity, humanity, and the freedom to express yourself in ways that feel healthy, respectful, and true to who you are.

Person-Centered Counselling

In Person-Centred theory, the authentic self (or real self) is the part of you made up of your genuine feelings, thoughts, and lived experience. The ideal self is who you believe you should be or want to become, often shaped by expectations, pressures, or values from the world around you. When the gap between these two selves is small, we tend to feel more grounded, congruent, and emotionally well. When the gap is large, it can create tension, low self-worth, and a sense of not being “good enough.”

Person-centred counselling focuses on you, your experiences, and the way you relate to yourself. In our sessions, you’re supported to explore your thoughts and emotions in a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental space. Together, we gently untangle patterns, help you reconnect with your authentic self, and find ways of responding to life that feel more manageable and more aligned with who you truly are.

My Path

In 2010, after being made redundant from a job I had fallen out of love with, I retrained and fell deeply in love with psychology—particularly Carl Rogers’ person-centred approach. Over time, I added positive psychology, existential ideas, and attachment theory to the way I work, before completing a Foundation Degree focused on neuroscience, child development, and the nervous system.

From there, I trained as a Health Coach supporting people with long-term health conditions, became the first CPCAB-qualified Life Coach, and later added counselling and supervision to my practice. Each step has shaped the way I support people today: grounded, compassionate, curious, and centred around real human connection.
